2-3 lb. top round roast
2-3T. crushed garlic
salt
pepper
onion powder
garlic powder
italian seasoning
oregano
2c. cheap red wine
2T. beef base
SANDWICH:
hoagie or french rolls
provolone cheese
1 red pepper, sliced
1 green pepper, sliced
1 medium onion, sliced
1 pkg. sliced mushrooms | | Directions | Rub roast with garlic. Liberally sprinkle both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, italian seasoning and oregano. Put in roasting pan. Roast should look somewhat green from all of the spices. Add wine and beef base to pan. Cover and bake at 325 degrees for 2 hours, turning roast after 1 hour. Remove from oven, put roast on plate and set in fridge for 15-20 min. to cool. Slice beef fairly thin and put back into pan of juices.
Saute onion, peppers and mushrooms until cooked. Add steak and ALL juices to pepper/onion mixture. Serve on toasted rolls with melted cheese:) | | Notes | | |
